The African higher education summit is predicated upon the recognition that higher education has a central role to play in the political, social and economic development of Africa.
Attendees include heads of states and other dignitaries such as the African Union Commission Chair: Dr. Dlamini Zuma; former secretary general of the United Nations: Kofi Annan; business leaders and sector stakeholders.
The main objective is to develop a common understanding of the higher education sector and contribute to the development of an action plan that will transform higher education in Africa over the next fifty years.
This is in line with the African Union strategy, Agenda 2063.
