AngloGold loses 20,000 oz of production to power outage

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - AngloGold Ashanti said on Monday its first quarter production would be cut by 20,000 ounces due to a two-day power outage at some of its South African mines.The company said Mponeng and Tau Tona had all power interrupted between Wednesday and Friday last week after a fire caused by lightning damaged a transformer at a regional substation belonging to power utility Eskom .Eskom had partially restored power, allowing Tau Tona to resume underground mining activities on Friday while Mponeng resumed most of its operations Monday, the company said.
