September 13, 2016, 4:24 pm

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has extended the term of the country's tax ombudsman by three years to 2019, the Treasury said on Tuesday. Judge Bernard Makgabo Ngoepe has led the office responsible for monitoring fairness and procedural correctness in the tax system since 2013. The government saw a 7.6 percent year-on-year increase in revenue from taxes on income, profits and capital gains in the first quarter of fiscal year beginning April, according to central bank.
