South Africa's rebased business confidence rises to 95.1 in June

July 6, 2016, 12:00 pm

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's business confidence index rose to 95.1 points in June from 91.8 in May, boosted by improvements in export volumes and approved building plans as well as lower inflation, a rebased survey showed on Tuesday. The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) said it was adjusting the base year to 2015 from 2010. "The recaptured index points (between May and June) is an indication that the pace of deterioration of the business climate and the economy may have plateaued," SACCI said in a statement.(Reporting by Stella Mapenzauswa; Editing by Kevin Liffey)
