Ponatshego Kedikilwe - The moderating man in Botswana

Ponatshego Kedikilwe, Vice-President of BotswanaThe appointment of Ponatshego Kedikilwe as vice-president in August 2012 at the age of 74 marked the culmination of a distinguished career.

Ponatshego Kedikilwe and President Ian Khama of Botswana make a formidable combination, although they were at odds during Festus Mogae's presidency, as leaders of the "A-Team" and "Barata-Phathi" factions, respectively.

When most Barata-Phathi members left the ruling party in 2010 to form the Botswana Movement for Democracy, Kedikilwe did not.

He is popular across party lines in the diamond-rich Southern African country, and may exercise a moderating influence on Khama.
