A heavyweight in the corporate world, former barrister Zaamwani-Kamwi has worked in the ministry of mines as well as presiding over Namibia's chamber of commerce and serving on the boards of NGOs, making her a natural fit to head the Namdeb joint venture between the government and De Beers.
Appointed CEO in 1999, she has had to weather the storm in global diamond markets but brought the company into profit in 2011.
