Hakainde Hichilema’s road to the Zambian presidency was not without bumps and turns along the way. He has relied on a strong network of people across business and politics who continue to support him as he turns a new page for the country. We take a look at his circle of close confidants.

President Hakainde Hichilema (HH), according to close contacts, is not an easily trusting figure and as a result, keeps his inner circle lean and close to his chest. However, of the few individuals that he confides in, there is one shared characteristic – a long, unbroken history of friendship and commitment.

Munankupya Hantuba (Muna Hantuba), a long-time friend and confidant of Hichilema, is currently the Group CEO of African Life Financial Services Limited. The wealthy Lusaka-based businessman has investment portfolios that are similar to HH, which dip into energy, insurance, mining, real estate, corporate services, agriculture and retail, among other sectors.
