Chad’s former president Goukouni Weddeye is heading the committee in charge of promoting increased understanding between the transitional government and rebel groups. Here are 10 things to know about Weddeye.

In August, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, president of the Conseil Militaire de Transition, entrusted Chad’s former head of state Goukouni Weddeye with representing the government, which was engaged in dialogue with politico-military groups.
