A photograph sent political shockwaves everywhere it went. Shared throughout social media, the photo showed Maurice Kamto’s vehicle at one of the entrances to the Etoudi Palace, the seat of the Cameroonian presidency on 21 December.
The Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun (MRC) leader had arrived at the palace to give a document to President Biya’s security apparatus.

Since that day, speculation has been rife throughout the country, with Kamto choosing not to make public the contents of the letter that was addressed to Biya. In response to this development, the MRC released a press release referring to the letter as one concerning a sensitive subject of national interest.
