At least one person died after a group of Yoruba Nation agitators clashed with armed police officers in Lagos on Monday. It marks an upturn in violence around issues of ethnic self-determination. February's poll will be the first election since the country's return to democracy in 1999 in which the major contenders for the presidency are from the three main ethnic groups.
