Monday, 23 January marks one year since the death of the Bank of Uganda’s governor Emmanuel Mutebile, who so far has not been officially succeeded by a new chief despite incessant calls to fill the top position.

Deputy governor Michael Atingi-Ego has been at the central bank’s helm over the past year following the death of Mutebile, a highly-acclaimed bullish intellectual who was the central bank governor for more than two decades.
