Uganda Airlines has set eyes on expanding its routes and aircraft fleet but is expected to continue a loss making-streak for over a decade before turning a profit. There is a mixture of optimism and scepticism about the company’s future.

In its fourth year of operation, the airline demonstrated big ambitions, yet without solid plans to realise them. It promised last year to launch several international routes such as China, London, and Mumbai as well as a regional route to Nigeria, but none has been operational so far. Currently, Uganda Airlines operates 10 regional routes and one international route: Dubai.
