Kenya: Mounting dismay as Ruto unable to deliver on economic promises

A lot has drastically changed since William Ruto’s administration assumed office six months ago, from tax mobilisation to scrapping subsidies and cutting the infrastructure budget. But overall, the Kenyan government has so far done too little to deliver on the president’s promise to turn around the economy, leaving the public and business community bemoaning.

A survey by Infotrak recently revealed that 62% of Kenyans believe the East African economy is heading down the wrong path, owing to high taxes, increasing unemployment, rising inflation, bad politics, spreading drought, and rampant poverty.
