Tanzania’s Rostam Azizi talks foreign investment, philanthropy, and the family business

It might have been his usual charm, but Tanzanian businessman Rostam Azizi sounds cheerful and optimistic throughout our call for the interview we had finally scheduled at midnight.

“Do you know that it is the largest private foreign direct investment in Kenya since the collapse of the East African Community in 1977?” He responds while laughing when I asked him about his $130.5m recent investment in Kenya’s Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone through his LPG company, Taifa Gas.
