HB Antwerp: Botswana agreement shows path to diamond, cobalt transparency

An agreement between Botswana’s government and HB Antwerp on diamond transparency has implications for cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rafael Papismedov, co-founder and managing partner of HB Antwerp, tells The Africa Report.

HB Antwerp, a Belgian company, was set up in April 2020 by three co-founders who believed that traditional diamond sales were based on “speculation” as miners did not know what the final value of their diamonds would be, Papismedov says.
