Kenya: Eurobond plan can’t disguise need for public-spending cuts, economists say

Kenya’s plans to sell a new eurobond is likely to buy time but will do little to address weaknesses in public finances, economists say.

The government said on 18 April that it’s considering accessing the international markets before the end of the next fiscal year ending in June 2024 to sell a eurobond. The county’s 10-year eurobond worth $2bn is due for repayment the same month.
