Côte d’Ivoire: Wave ups the game to vie with MTN, Orange, Moov

US start-up Wave is expanding its offers through partnerships in the retail and transport sectors, a move that will step up competition with telecom operators and banks.

Wave is no longer satisfied with deposits, money transfers, or withdrawals in Côte d’Ivoire. The penguin brand has just expanded its portfolio, having invested CFA55bn (about $92.4m) in the West African country in recent years. Consequently, it has gained a foothold in niches where telecoms have already been present for several years.
