Tanzania faces legal challenges over the government’s seizure of Maasai land, which has raised concerns about human rights abuses and could impact the country’s investment climate. The Maasai community has accused government forces of violent land grabs, confiscation of cattle, shooting at livestock, and allegedly raping women.

There are currently six legal challenges in court against the Tanzanian government’s Maasai land grabbing. These cases seek to challenge the government’s disregard for the rule of law and to hold the government accountable for its actions against the Maasai community. On the other hand, experts say that the uncertainty created by the government’s disregard for the law could deter potential investors.
