A week after the departure of its commander, who was pushed out by Kinshasa, the EACRF, which is still awaiting the renewal of its mandate, sees its future becoming increasingly uncertain.

Was this a resignation, a forced departure, or simply the consequence of a military reshuffle in Kenya? As of 27 April, Jeff Nyagah is no longer the commander of the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF). The Kenyan officer, who was deployed to Goma in November 2022, had been in Kinshasa’s sights for several months.
