General Abdourahamane Tiani has installed a new prime minister of Niger, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine. Can his political and economic credentials make a difference?  

On the evening of 7 August, the leaders of Niger’s military junta announced they had chosen former finance minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine as the new head of government.
