On 14 August on a sweltering afternoon, Muhoozi Kainerugaba stood between the speaker and deputy speaker of parliament as the national anthem was sung.
The venue is Bukedea in eastern Uganda, the home district of the speaker of parliament. The visual aesthetics of the event were telling. Muhoozi has arguably placed himself above everybody in Uganda’s politics, with the exception of his father.
