In a complex economic environment in Africa, political risk, soaring construction costs and rising interest rates are putting the brakes on international investors’ enthusiasm, but manufacturers are playing the local value-added card.

Following an agreement in principle with the Guinean authorities in March, partners Rio Tinto and Winning Consortium Simandou in August signed construction agreements for the railway and port of a mining mega-project.
